Matro Magazine

Photography Magazine

Matro Magazine was founded in March 2024, named after the Latin roots Mater (mother) and Matrix (a structure from which something develops), Matro stands as a modern platform dedicated to nurturing creativity and community. We are a photography magazine driven by heart, color, and collaboration. Since our very first issue, we've proudly featured both local and out-of-state artists from emerging talents to seasoned pros.

Matro publishes curated photography collections that follow thoughtful themes from florals and fire to spooky aesthetics and life milestones. In our first year, we released 12 monthly issues, and starting in 2025, we’ve shifted to seasonal (quarterly) releases to bring you even more intentional, powerful storytelling through imagery. 

Every contributor brings something unique to our pages, and our magazine wouldn't exist without the artists, models, and creatives who trust us with their work. We welcome submissions with open arms and remain committed to keeping our preview access free for the first 48 hours of every issue because your art deserves to be seen.

Hi, I’m Lizzie, the one-woman team behind Matro Magazine! I picked up my first camera in December 2023 and immediately fell in love. Since then, I’ve been capturing creative portraits, art, events ranging from gender reveals and burlesque shows to art galleries, concerts, weddings, and more. Through my lens, I’ve found inspiration and through this magazine, I’ve found community.

I created Matro because I was tired of submitting to magazines only to find out I had to pay $20+ just to see that I was published. That didn’t sit right with me. So I built my own platform with photographers and models in mind first! A space where publication is something to be proud of, not something you’re forced to buy.

That’s why every issue is free to preview for the first 48 hours, no exceptions. Miss the window? I’ll even grab screenshots for you. You should never have to pay to access your own art.

Yes, we sell physical and digital copies for those who WANT to support Matro monetarily, but it is never required and never should be. This magazine lives and breathes because of the creatives who fill its pages, and it will always be made for you, with love. 🖤
